Our modern rustic kitchen pieces are designed to give the warmth and character of natural wood combined with simple, clean lines and modern design.
Our tabletops are intentionally created to tone with contemporary colour schemes. The table often takes up over half of the visual space in a kitchen, so a tonal choice can often make the room look larger and more modern.
What are the best colours for a modern rustic kitchen?
Neutral, earthy tones are the best way to creating a modern rustic look in a kitchen. The soft grey and brown undertones in our Palewash finish complement wood and stone and tone with most paler shades offered by contemporary paint makers such as Farrow and Ball, Little Green and Coat.
Palewash tables look great styled in airy, open plan kitchens and carry white and neutral tableware really well. For a cosy, organic and darker look a modern rustic vibe can be achieved using our Darkwash surface. Its utilitarian black with depth, texture and moody tones gives a functional yet elegant look when combined with our powder coated black or coloured steel legs.
What size do I need for my kitchen table?
As a rule of thumb allow 60cm of space per person. The Modern Rustic tables are sized generously and allow plenty of space for wide chairs. Our small tables at 120cm long will seat 2-4 and a 220cm long table will seat 8-10.
We make to order so can create large scale tables to bigger dimensions. We also offer table extenders at 45cm each which will add 2 additional seats to each end of the table.
How tough are The Modern Rustic tabletops?
Tough enough to withstand dining, homework, hobbies – even dancing. Our tabletops are stain and abrasion resistant and water repellent. The colourwash process takes time, several applications and is rigorously tested to withstand the demands of high traffic modern kitchen life.
Everything is handmade in our rural workshop and each step of the process quality controlled. We use premium grade Scandinavian Redwood which is sanded and planed all sides to give a smooth, even surface. We use an eco-colour and wax layering process, each with ample time to dry and cure. The final is a natural wax finish to give a soft touch, tactile feel.
Can I position the legs on my kitchen table to accommodate my kitchen chairs?
Yes. All our tables are made to generously seat the numbers intended, but if our have extra wide chairs, chairs with arms or want to squeeze and extra seat along the length, we can position the legs to the centimetre to suit your space.
Can the legs be made to a different height for wheelchair/highchairs?
Yes. We can custom make either the powder coated steel Farmhouse or Scandi legs to a custom height on any of our tables, as well as add or remove castors from the Colour Collection tables too.
Does the bench fit under the table in the table and bench set?
Yes. Our benches can be made to any length to either match the length of the table or shorter, to slide underneath.
Do the tables come assembled?
To ease transportation and access into the house, the tables usually come as a separate top and legs with very easy attachment guide. We offer a white glove delivery service as an option, to have the table assembled and all packaging removed.
Does the Hybrid Mobile Island come in black legs as well as coloured steel?
The Hybrid Mobile Island works well as an alternative to a traditional kitchen island. It is part of our Colour Collection but can come with standard black legs too.
